Home Buyers are Jumping into the Stockton Lodi Real Estate Market, Mortgage Applications on the Rise
Mortgage loan applications by home buyers to purchase homes increased by 3.4 percent during the last week of July 2010 week in comparison to the third week of July on a seasonally adjusted basis, as reported by Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) in their weekly survey. This was the second time in 10 weeks that applications for home mortgages increased
It is estimated that the increase in applications for loans for the purchase of a new or existing home comes from government loans like the FHA and FHA 203k loan programs. FHA loans are extremely attractive to first time home buyers in Stockton and Lodi because of their low down payment option of 3.5 percent. Also the low interest rate are attracting move up buyers that are taking advantage of lower purchase prices.
Mortgage rates continue to remain low some of the lowest since 1971: The 30-year fixed mortgage rate fell to a new low of 4.54 percent this week from 4.56 percent last week and an average of 5.25 percent a year ago.
